 Bob Schmillen Water Operator of the Year Robert has made contributions to the City of Middleton water system that seem, to me, quite unparalleled. Robert has served the City for the past 31 years. During this period he has held many positions from Maintenance worker to Public Works Superintendent. His Certifications include, “Drinking Water Distribution Class II, Waste Water Collections II, Wastewater Treatment II”. The City’s water system has been vastly improved through his years of dedicated service to the City. He has ensured that the water system is in compliance with regulatory requirements and that the system is well maintained and improved as necessary to replace any deteriorating components of the system before they become a major problem. His proactive planning to improve the water system has enabled the City to readily accommodate the changes due to the significant growth that has been experienced in recent years. In addition, he has implemented a SCADA control system to efficiently control the complexities of a multiple pressure zone water system.
Robert is an active member of the community. He has helped the Baseball Association and the Fourth of July committee. Robert is also a member of the Emergency Response Team. To handle these conditions he has trained to use special safety equipment and procedures to protect public health and facilities.
