Mayor Vicki Thurber Welcome to "The City with a Future". My family and I moved to Middleton in 1972. We became part of the 600 people who lived in Middleton at that time. Now, in 2008, COMPASS, Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho, estimates our population at 5,045. We are a caring community. Our people really work together for the benefit of all. In February of 2007, a devastating fire destroyed our High School. Our citizens united in a mutual effort, and, through contributions, fund raisers and good old fashioned hard work, are overcoming this disaster. In the summer of 2007, "Extreme Makeover" came to town to construct a beautiful home for a very deserving family. Once again, the people of Middleton amazed everyone with their support, showing that community spirit can make a difference.
Our elected officials and staff are involved with committees and organizations in the Treasure Valley. This allows for Middleton to have a strong voice in future plans for our valley. We will continue to work to bring commercial and industrial growth to our City. This will create convenience for our citizens, as well as offset the tax burden placed on homeowners.
Our Middleton School District provides a great education for our young people. Our schools are highly accredited.
Middleton Rural Fire District has a most competent staff. The staff is also aided by highly trained volunteers. Their response time is about 3 minutes to almost all of the area that they serve.
Greater Middleton Parks and Recreation District has wonderful facilities and many great programs for our youth.
Middleton City Library serves to satisfy your literary needs, as well as providing computer help for those who need it.
Your elected officials, as well as City Staff, continue to work to find ways to alleviate our traffic congestion. As our population grows, traffic becomes more of a problem. We will continue to work toward an alternate route, signal lights, and other means to move us through and around town in a more efficient and less frustrating manner.
